It never occurred to me to cut scallions on the diagonal... but look at how cool it looks when you do! The chef was cutting them that way at the cooking school last night - to use in recipes and also to use as a garnish.
I just thought it looked so cool!!!
For a cool look, cut scallions on the diagonal.

12true shi! hhahahahahah
13I love scallions!
14Since I am not knife savy
, what is a Wusthof?
15I love veggies cut on the diagonal, my mom always does it with carrots, celery and a bunch of other veggies. everything looks more elegant this way, thanks for sharing suzanne!
16Veggies cut on the diagonal don't roll off the chopping block as easily either.
17I love kitchen stuff, Suze I've always wanted to go to chef school to learn baking
18I had so much fun and now I volunteer at the cooking school and barter that for class time. It's a win/win for me... I learn at the classes and when I help out too.
Baking here in Denver is so tricky! I did fine when I lived closer to sea level.
LisaK, a Wusthof is a good brand of knives... it's the chef's knife pictured in my post. We were just joking around about how nice they are to work with... another volunteer perk - knives at "Cost."
19Suze, I know cooking depend on altitude for example living here in Madrid I cook much better than when I lived New York. It is so weird but rice for example come sout kick Azz here in Madrid hahahaha
bet you its way tricky baking at higher altitudes
20And you got it AT COST??? Oh, Suzanne, now you're just rubbing it in!!
21
22i love that you are drooling at scallions! but you stood your ground and they are crisp so i shall drool with you!
23LOL at standing your ground
24So green onions are scallions!?!?!? OMG, I've wondered for-ev-ver what the hell scallions were.
Very pretty, Suzanne!!
25What the hey yaya?!
You cook better in different altitudes?!
Agree about diagonal cutting, and good point Twinkle, never thought of that.

Have you all ever heard of an "asian cole slaw" salad? It involves raw raman noodles and scallions that look like this... and is really tasty
27I just call it ramen cabbage salad. All it takes is some cabbage, scallions (sliced on a diagonal, of course
), chicken, your favorite Asian dressing, a sprinkling of sesame seeds, and some crumbled, uncooked ramen noodles on top! Easy!
28Mmmm! That sounds good!
