step mom - Diane G.
My step mother made this for Christmas in 91 - while I was pregnant with my oldest son. It tasted so good, I just knew she put hours into the cake so would ask her to make it for me for years. She finally gave me the recipe instisting it was easy to make. It's rich in taste, sweet and probably not good for someone with high blood pressure or high cholesterol. But you can probably substitute the margerine for a low cholesterol version (but I've never tried it). 5 minutes to prepare.
INGREDIENTS
1 box of yellow cake mix (any brand)
1 stick of margerine -refrigerated
1 can of cherry pie filling
1 can of pineapple (crushed or chunks - i like crushed) - optional - can use different fruit if you so desire
9x11 baking pan (i like glass better than metal).
This is why it's called a dump cake...
DUMP the cherry pie filling in the pan
DUMP the pineapple in the pan
DUMP the cake over the fruit (do not mix it together)
Slice the stick of margerine and place them all over on top of cake mix
Bake at 350 degrees for 30-45 minutes. You want to watch for the cake to turn golden brown.
Scoop it out with a serving spoon.
Serve warm or chilled.
It's a great recipe for kids to make too!
