100 grs butter
100 grs sugar
100 grs flour
2-3 large cooking apples
1 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 cup raisins
Preheat the oven to 180ºC. Peel, core and chop the apples. Layer in a 2-3 inch baking dish the apple and sprinkle sugar and some cinnamon over the top. In a bowl mix the flour and sugar, rub the butter between your fingers till you get a breadcrumb consistency and mix in the raisins and the teaspoon of cinnamon. Cover the apple with this topping, make sure you cover the apples really well, pad down to make the crust. Bake for 20-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the edges are caramel. If you find that the center is soft but the crust isn't golden, but under the grill for a few minutes. Serve hot with custard or vanilla ice cream.

1What about this dish makes it English? I'm just curious because I have a recipe that is quite similar and have always considered it an apple crumble.
