Once you have this, you will not want cranberry sauce from a can again. I got this recipe years ago from an old boyfriend's mom. I have been making it every year since. There's always a batch for my work's potluck and a batch for Thanksgiving dinner. It's so easy to make and so DELICIOUS!!!

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups fresh cranberries rinsed1 1/2 cups fresh cranberries rinsed

16 dried apricots quartered16 dried apricots quartered

3/4 cup packed golden brown sugar3/4 cup packed golden brown sugar

1/3 cup dried currants1/3 cup dried currants

2 tbsp peeled and minced fresh ginger (but I always half it)2 tbsp peeled and minced fresh ginger (but I always half it)

2 tbsp cranberry juice cocktail2 tbsp cranberry juice cocktail

3/4 tsp ground cinnamon3/4 tsp ground cinnamon

1/3 tsp cayenne pepper1/3 tsp cayenne pepper

Steps:
1. Combine all ingredients in heavy medium saucepan.

2. Cook over medium heat, stirring to dissolve sugar.

3. Increase heat to high and boil for about 3-4 minutes.

4. Transfer to bowl. Cool.

It can be prepared one week ahead. Make sure to refrigerate in airtight container. ENJOY!!!
