These are my favorite dumplings. They are not bread dumplings, they are what we call, "Sinkers".
I've been eating these since I was little, they are heavenly! We like to serve these covered in brown gravy, with pork roast and sauerkraut, but they go well with just about any meat. Enjoy!
I reccomend Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio with this meal!
Dumplings ~ "Sinkers"
Serves 2, Double the recipe or triple for more.
Ingredients:
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup of milk
1 egg beaten
1 1/2 cups sifted all purpose flour
Cooking instructions:
Bring salted water to boil.
1.In large bowl, mix salt, eggs, and milk. After you are done mixing that, add the flour in slowly, while mixing it in.
2.Once you have your dough made, drop dough by spoon, one by one, into the boiling water.
3.When you have finished dropping the dough into the pot, put a cover on, and boil for about 15 minutes.
4.When the time is up, carefully pour the dumplings & water into a strainer. Do NOT rinse with cold water!
5.Pour brown gravy over dumplings, and serve!
P.S. I'm FAR from a kitchen goddess...lol But these are so easy to make! As for the pork roast and sauerkraut, well, you're on your own there...my hubby does that part because while I can cook SOME things, I cannot cook that..lol.

Yum dumplings
1These sound delicious, Jaime!
2Oohhh, and I love Santa Margherita!
3I grew up eating pork with dumplings and potatoes, take a a large roasting pan, brown your pork chops or pork steaks with chopped onion until brown, peel and slice potatoes as if you were making mashed put those on top of the pork chops filling with water just until it covers the potatoes cover and let cook for 1/2 hour or so. Dumplings, We now cheat because it was so time consuming.. take Grand biscuits and cut in half about 3 cans lay on a floured surface let rise while the pork and potatoes finish cooking, then add the dough all over the top covering the entire surface, put a hand towel over the lip of the pan so no moisture escapes place lid on the top cook 1/2 longer and you have the BEST pork and dumplings!! We always had cucumber salad as a side too it was great! Bree
