Its amazing what you can do with basic rice crispy treats and some marzipan...
Yes, thats really all this is, other than some wood skewers for support, a little food coloring, some melted chocolate and ground coffee mud, and a little cocoa powder "dirt".
So what is it for? Its part of the central "Night of the Living Dead "cake for a friends event this Friday. Tomorrow night I'm making all the cookie tombstones and prepping all of the cookie "dirt".
Heres the sketch for the display...
I still need to buy some moss for the cake stand... for atmosphere... and I'm putting a small mister under the main cake for some fun foggy FX...

12Oh wow! THAT is COOL!
13That is awesome!!! You are so talented!!! How did you come up with that idea?
14suebree96- I needed a hand on top of the cake... and I figured modeling chocolate would be heavy... plus I've never used it. So I took the rice crispy idea from Food Network. I've seen a lot of the cake challenges use rice crispy treats, and they use it on Ace of Cakes... so, I did it and hoped for the best, lol.
15It came out so awesome. You should be proud. You've got talent. I love to watch those shows to. I love when they build sugar towers. Always cool!!
16That was very creative though. I would've never thought of doing anything like that.
By the way, I favorite placed your redrum cupcakes LOL I already bought the red velvet cake mix. I want to try and make those. Can they be made kid friendly too?
the rum cooks out... but if you are concerned... you can always prepare according to the package directions and add a bit of rum extract instead.
17OMG!!! You are awesome - I wish I had that talent for my own Halloween party!
18Thanks sarah, I am going to make them for my kiddos. I have the red velvet cake mix and I will get the rest and make them this weekend. I have a question though where did you find those Skull decorations? They are adorable.
19i have to ask the dumb question, where is the redrum cupcake recipe? i cant find it...
