Hey everyone, I just wanted to let you guys know about a new feature the geeks are rolling out this evening. For quite some time now, they've been listening to me whine about how everyone is sharing such great content, but it's impossible to find any of it. Well, they've finally gotten tired of my complaining and the great recipe database we've been asking for is finally on its way!
What this means:
There will now be a new form to insert recipes. Unlike the current form — which is the standard blog posting form — this one is specific for recipes. You'll put the ingredients in one box, the directions in another, and you'll even be able to select the type of food (appetizers, dinners, desserts, etc.) as well as the cuisine (Chinese, Mexican, Thai, etc.). And yes, you can still add as many pics and stories as you want, and they'll still show up in Team and in your groups.
Why they're doing this:
As you might know, finding recipes here is not the easiest thing in the world. By adding the recipes into a database, we'll be able to search, drill down and browse easily. A new recipe search feature will go live on YumSugar in a few weeks (the recipe form should be live tonight). For example, if you only want appetizers? Then you'll be able to select appetizers. Only want vegetarian appetizers? You'll be able to filter down to just the vegetarian ones. The information will come from your recipe posts, so in order for it to work, you should be as specific as possible. All the recipes entered using this form — the old form is going away — will be automatically entered into the database.
I know this sounds a bit confusing, but I think you're really going to like it. The geeks have been working their patooties off, and it looks really good. TeamSugar has put together a how to guide and it should answer any questions you have.
Anyways, I just wanted to give you all a heads up. Once you try it out, let us know what you think. I'll give you folks more info on the search as soon as we get it. Cheers and happy cooking!

1the old form is going away? I usually just do it as a blog post. Was there a recipe form?

3This is great!
4Sounds terrific!
5*oh, nevermind... I just realized where to select recipe from on the blog post.
6so i assume we need to re-do our recipes we have already posted?
7spm - exactly! that's part of the main reason why i've been bugging them for a year.
audreystar - arthur says they old ones will be searchable still and will show up in search results, but won't be in the drill down. We'll know more when that feature goes up in a few weeks. I'll keep you posted.
8couldn't we just copy and paste our recipes and pics and put them there for the drill down?
this idea cause there are so many recipes that some people have posted and even though
I've added them to my favorites it's still a scrolling issue and with this I could just click on so and so's recipe on the scroll down and tada!!!!?
